Hyperpigmentation Reduction
Sun spots, liver spots, freckles and other unwanted hyperpigmentation are often associated with skin ageing and over exposure to the sun or sunbeds. From the age of about 40 the skin is less able to regenerate from sun exposure and age spots start to appear. Generally these age spots pose no health risk, however they can be unsightly and create a patchy, less youthful appearance. Freckling and age spots are successfully lightened or removed with Laser or Intense Pulse Light.
Not all pigmentation concerns are as a result of sun exposure and some people are born with pigmented birthmarks or may have melasma, a skin pigmentation condition often associated with pregnancy or hormones. Birthmarks can often be treated with a Q-Switch Laser.
IPL or Intense Pulse Light skin rejuvenation and pigment removal treatment is a relatively quick and easy procedure. Age spots and freckles can be lightened or removed in as little as one to three treatment sessions. The light targets areas of excess pigment safely breaking down the excess melanin. The sun spots or freckles darken in the first few days after treatment and then the excess melanin sheds naturally away.
IPL pigment removal treatment
Selective Photothermolysis: IPL works on the principle of selective photothermolysis. The broad-spectrum light emitted by the IPL device targets pigmented cells in the skin without affecting the surrounding tissue. This is achieved by choosing the appropriate wavelength range that corresponds to the targeted pigments.
Pigment Absorption: The melanin in pigmented lesions, such as sunspots, age spots, freckles, and certain types of hyperpigmentation, absorbs the light energy delivered by the IPL device.
Heat Generation: As the pigmented cells absorb the light, the energy is converted into heat. This heat causes the targeted cells to break down and be gradually eliminated by the body’s natural processes.
Collagen Stimulation: In addition to targeting pigmentation, IPL can stimulate collagen production, contributing to improved skin texture and a more even tone.
Multiple Sessions: IPL pigment removal treatment usually involves a series of sessions to achieve optimal results. The number of sessions depends on the type and severity of the pigmentation and individual skin response.
Downtime and Side Effects: IPL is a non-invasive procedure, and downtime is generally minimal. Some redness or mild swelling may occur immediately after the treatment, but this usually resolves within a short period. It’s essential to follow post-treatment care instructions, including sun protection.
Suitability and Consultation: Book a consultation with our experienced practitioner. We can assess your skin type, the specific pigmentation concerns, and determine if IPL is the right treatment for you. We can also discuss expected results, potential risks, and provide personalized advice.

flawless, youthful and glowing complexion. This amazing laser by Deka reaches the deeper layers of your skin.
Q-SWITCH ND:YAG LASER
The Q-Switch Laser is a highly advanced medical and aesthetic procedure. It works by producing short pulses of high-intensity light that are absorbed by the targeted tissue. Short pulses of light are released and are readily absorbed by the high concentration of melanin found within pigmented lesions.
The rapid absorption of light energy heats the melanin and causes the destruction of the melanin-rich cells. This triggers the body’s natural healing process to stimulate the growth of new, healthy skin tissue.

How it works
- The Nd:YAG Laser emits light at specific wavelengths.
- The Laser beam is then focused by a lens, then directed onto the targeted tissue.
- The energy targeted to the tissue causes it to heat up and break down.
- Releasing pigments that are then removed by the body’s natural processes.
